I’ve been knitting my Gales of November Hat for sometime now, and as I knit I often dream about other spiral knit patterns that are easy and mindless to make. I really wanted to try an arrangement with less twisted stitch spirals that also featured a purl bump on each side of the spiral, creating an element that almost looks like a botanical vine with roots twisting upwards - and that’s how this pattern was born.
I’ve named this hat after the road I live on, and my knitting
business, North Road Knits.
This hat is knit with bulky yarn. Shown in a variety of
yarns from Baah, Malabrigo, and Stitch Stuff Yarns.
There are two versions of the pattern provided here:
one for bulky yarn and one heavy bulky yarn. Some bulky weight yarns on the lighter end may not work with this pattern- make sure to gauge swatch.
The pattern comes in 3 sizes, ranging from child
to adult s/m and adult l/xl.
Uses US 8 - 5.0mm, US 10.5 6.5mm, and US 13 - 9.0mm needles.
