I’ve ordered this type of yarn before from you guys and so I know it’s beautiful and soft, but now my project got cut by 2/5 because 2 of the 5 skeins I ordered are different dye lots. I wish someone had reached out to me to let me know so I could have chosen a different color or at least not ordered those two that don’t match. Now I’m stuck with a weird length baby blanket and two skeins of yarns which isn’t really enough to do anything with since I’m not a hat person. The last time I ordered a lot of yarn in the same color from here, all of the yarn was the same dye lot so I thought it’d be the case this time too. Guess not. I’ll still shop from here, but PLEASE contact your customers if there isn’t enough of a dye lot if they are wanting to order a lot of the same yarn.
We take great care to send matching dye lots when we are able to, and when we cannot, we try to match the skeins as best as we can. Often times, skeins in the same dye lot don't match exactly as well, which makes this task very tricky. Malabrigo's official policy assumes the yarns may not match and they suggest using the following technique directly on their website:
'Be sure to get enough yarn to complete your project since each bag is a different dye lot, and skeins may vary from bag to bag. Skeins may vary one from the other even within the same bag. To ensure random color distribution, work from two balls of yarn at once, alternating a few rows from each ball. When we dye our yarns, the same formula is used each time but every batch of yarn may vary. The differences from one dye lot to another can be very subtle, or extremely noticeable, specially on variegated yarns.'
We are so sorry this was frustrating for you. If you need multiple yarns from the same dye lot in the future, you can add that in the comments section on the order, and we can contact you before shipping the order out if we cannot meet that request.
