NRK Local Yarn Store Visits, The Sow's Ear, Verona, WI, April 11, 2026

The Sow's Ear, 125 S. Main St, Verona, WI 53593.

The final yarn store we visited on our spring Peoria / Madison trip was the Sow's Ear in Verona, WI.  This was another great find for a local yarn store and one of those places we would visit again, or go all the time if we were in the area.

We wish we could have had more time!  There was an amazing cafe that shared the building with the yarn shop.  The entire thing was an old house, so there were so many fun rooms full of things that it felt like a super unique shopping experience.  The cafe was packed, bustling with so many people inside and outside. The yarn shop was also buzzing... it was pretty magical.  We didn't visit the cafe because at this point in the day, we were pretty coffee and treated out, but everything looked amazing.

The yarn shop had a huge selection of everything.  So many different brands of yarns in every weight you might need.  Each yarn and weight also had a great colorway selection.  It's one of those places that you can go and find yarns for several projects...so much fun.  Theo also loved their choices for books, needles, and notions.  That's his favorite part to browse at a yarn shop.

Jamie came home with a really beautiful skein of Malabrigo Caracol Talisman (which she made into a beautiful Sharing Creativity SB Cowl by Pamela Kay....photo of finished cowl below), a one of a kind Madelinetosh Biggie colorway and a new knitting book!

The only hard part about this shop was how crowded it was.  It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon in early spring, so it was logical it would be so packed, but that is a great problem to have.

We will definitely stop back in here next time we are in the area. end if you're close - add this to your weekend plans, road trip stop, or make it a destination.

Jamie and Theo
